Visual

A workshop organized by the ENS and the University of Hyderabad (India).

Visual cognition is a complex set of processes that relies on faculties like attention, working
memory and executive control. Studies in the past decade have focussed on studying
visual cognition in isolation with one or more of these processes. While progress has been
made in the models of vision, the lack of convergence of empirical research prevents their
application to real-life situations. An ideal model of vision must integrate advancements from
computational, philosophical, neurophysiological as well as evolutionary sciences. A
dialogue among researches from these areas allows for cross talk and interdisciplinary
research collaborations crucial for cognitive sciences. In this workshop we wish to invite
scholars from a range of areas such as embodied cognition, psycholinguistics,
computational neurosciences, etc to present their recent work in light of existing findings
in visual cognition. Every lecture will be followed by a open discussion with the audience
with impetus on integrating interdisciplinary ideas.
